I’ve lived in East Tennessee for over 30 years, let’s not be too exact ok? And only in the last several years have I heard about Max Patch. I have no idea why, it is the most beautiful field in all the land. Ok probably not but the views are amazing and it’s such a tiny hike up the steepest hill you’ve ever seen. Totally worth it friends. Pack yourself a backpack with some snacks, drinks and a blanket and head up to enjoy the views. We’ve gone at sunrise and sunset, both are equally amazing. If you have kiddos, then bring some outdoor toys to play in the wide open field. And your camera of course!
Its the perfect day trip for us, but we also like to camp so we’ve made a weekend of it too. If you’re a bit further or if you just want to camp then check out Big Creek Campground. It’s close by and believe it or not, right by a creek! If there is a creek nearby, my kids are entertained for the day. Let me know if you go and what you think of Max Patch.
